We are required to have the following documents:

Original deed of sale for the yacht bearing the seller's unilaterally authenticated signature:

Municipal officials (present at the offices of each municipality in Italy), approved car and nautical practices agencies, and notaries can all certify a signature as authentic if it was made in Italy.
The deed must be in bilingual format, authenticated by the notary, and apostilled in accordance with AJA convention if authenticated overseas (a printout can be created to be submitted as a facsimile). If the deed is executed in a country not party to the AJA convention, the consular notary of Italy must authenticate it in a consulate or general embassy of that country.

- Under penalty of penalties, the notarized and apostilled deed must be registered with the Italian Revenue Agency within 20 days following the notarization of the deed of sale.

- Safety certification: 8 years after the date the EC building certificate was issued, the safety certification, which IS ISSUED WITHOUT A TECHNICAL VISIT, is valid for the first registration of a new boat.

An approved certifying body must make a technical visit after eight years, and a file must be made at the Italian register before the inspection may be made. The certification is valid for 5 years after the first 8 years.

Registration with annotation of lease use: The company must be Italian, be engaged in the activity of leasing, and have a current Chamber of Commerce registration valid for no more than six months.

Certification for Rental Use (Charter): In order for a boat to be used commercially, a post-registration technical visit in Italy is required (therefore the boat must already be registered in Italy) - However, renting under an Italian flag is not advised because of the police's strict scrutiny of the paperwork, the complex procedures for boarding and disembarking marine employees, and the requirements for the boat driver's license.

Already registered in the new STED registries is a boat: It already has a computerized license that is updated with straightforward coupons that can be used on it. As a result, the license is left up to the buyer, who will receive the coupon to be used toward a navigation license once the practice has been defined. We currently use a thorough front and rear scan of the navigation license.

Vessel listed in the previous port authority' registers: Along with the original navigation license, a deposit receipt is included in the STED of the file that enables the possibility of immediate navigation.

How does the deletion from Italy’s registers for transfer to other registers (formerly STED)?

Phase 1: Request approval for cancellation for transfer to other registers. As part of this process, approval for cancellation is necessary, and the Italian state first determines whether the boat is subject to any liens or encumbrances before approving cancellation. The process of checking can last up to 30 days, after which it grants what is known as CLEARANCE.

Phase 2: You can move on with the deed of sale of the boat once you have obtained the Nulla-Osta.

It is necessary to register the bill of sale with our FISCO (see "Registration of documents with the Revenue Agency").

The Bill of Sale must be notarized at a Municipality, an Authorized Agency, or a Notary and registered with the FISCO if it is conducted on Italian land.

- If the sale agreement is signed in a language other than English, it must be translated, sworn in court, and registered with FISCO (Revenue Agency)

Phase 3: The deed of sale registered with the Revenue Agency is sent, and the cancellation is specified. If the bill of sale is completed overseas in Italian, it must be registered with the Italian FISCO (Revenue Agency).

How can I apply for the extract RID?

The RID extract is the system's certification of the boat's current condition, including who the owner is, any burdens, and all of the technical information about the vessel.

You might ask for it to be current or historical.

A formal request from the applicant, along with a motivational statement (such as "potential purchase of the yacht"), is all that is needed to process the request.

How can I apply for the change of the boat name (Registered in STED)?

Bareboat: only for Italian companies.

- A search of the Chamber of Commerce that details the operation of renting unmanned boats.
- Self-certification for the entry of data that has been approved.
- A copy of the navigation license that is double-sided.

Charter Use: Only Italian businesses who are legally and actively listed in the Italian Chamber of Commerce may use a charter (The change in rental use is the only one that requires a technical inspection of the boat by an authorised certification body).

Do you help with the MMSI license?

It is required by the Italian ministry of communications that is in charge of the holder's or his representative's registered office or residence in Italy. All of the service manager's phone numbers must be provided (usually the same owner)

According to Italian legislation, this licence is required for any voyage that takes place more than six miles inland.

For the license, you will require:

How does the renewal of the safety certificate works?

Renewal of the safety certificate for boats already registered in Italy

The "renewal of the safety certificate" is a requirement for all boats that are registered in Italy after 8 years from the date of construction for new boats, after 5 years for vessels that are first registered overseas, and every 5 years for used boats.

It may be renewed by any of the following 7 approved bodies in Italy:

- Rina service SPA
- National Security Agency Srl
- Istituto Giodano Srl
- Udicer Nautitest Srl
- Quality & Security Srl
- ENave Srl
- Bureau Veritas

Following the technical inspection, these agencies issue a valid certification that can be used to issue the safety certificate.

At each renewal of the same certificate, STED issues a new "safety certificate."

Boats already registered in the STED register

For the renewals, we required:

- The technical body's approval of the visit
- Old security certificate
- Copy navigation license
- Identity document of the owner

To confirm that all legal responsibilities are being met, we immediately issue a certificate of insertion of the file to be retained on board.

The owner will send the old, original safety certificate to our office at the conclusion of the practice. When the document is delivered, we move through with sending the new original to the owner's specified address.

Boats registered with the old registers that will be enrolled in the STED following the completion of the formality

To proceed with the renewal, we need:

- The technical body's approval of the visit
- Old security certificate
- Copy navigation license.
- Identity document of the owner

We immediately issue a certificate of insertion of the file to be retained on board to attest to the fulfilment of all legal duties.

The owner will deliver the original old navigation licence and the old safety certificate to our office at the conclusion of the practise. We send the new licence and the new original safety certificate to the owner's specified address as soon as the document is received.

What nationalities can apply for the Italian flag?

Regardless of nationality, anyone can register a ship in Italy.

Do you accept documents in all languages?

Italian or an Italian translation should be used for documentation. We can take care of the sworn translations as well.

How long is the Italian registration valid for?

It is valid for the lifetime.

How soon can I get the registration?

After submitting the required paperwork and paying the fee. Typical registration can take up to three weeks.

There is an additional fee for an express registration that can be completed in 3 days.

Does an Italian boat owner require a safety certificate?

Yes, depending on their size and purpose, all Italian vessels must have a safety certificate on board attesting that each unit conforms with all applicable laws. Please be aware that in Italy, small boats, including pleasure craft, are required to have safety certificates, and must be registered with the Public Records of Pleasure Craft.
